What makes this series different
Most books about the promises of God pick out the favorites and sort them by topic. Those books help a lot of people. This series does something slower and, we think, steadier. It starts at Genesis 1 and keeps going, so you meet every promise in the order it appears in the Bible.
Reading them in order shows you things a topic list cannot. You see who God was talking to. You see what was happening that day, and you see the same promise come back years later to a son or a grandson who needed it. By the time you reach Moses, you know why he kept reminding God of what He had sworn to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
All the Scripture comes from the King James Version. On this website, every verse is checked against two separate copies of that text. The explanations use plain words, at about a seventh grade level, so a teenager and a grandparent can read the same page and both get something from it.

What a promise of God is
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Numbers 23:19 (KJV)
A promise of God is God giving His word that He will do something, give something or be something for someone. People can mean well and still fall short. That verse says God is not like that. When He says He will do a thing, the only question left is when.
Some promises were spoken to one person, like the son God promised Abraham. Some were for a whole nation. Some are for everyone who believes. The books tell you plainly which is which, so you know what you can stand on. Our guide to what the promises of God are goes deeper.
Every page is laid out the same way
Once you have read one page, you know how to read them all. Each promise gets six parts.
- The verseThe promise, quoted in the King James Version.
- Made toThe person or people God was speaking to.
- The conditionWhat God asked for, if anything. If nothing, it says so.
- What it meant thenThe promise in its own time and place.
- What it means for youHow it reaches your life today, and plainly when it does not apply directly.
- Stand on itA short prayer to say out loud.
